Onyx Marine Automation has further extended its range of hardware products by introducing the new Dimmer module, an innovative electronic power module which can manage up to 8 light channels at 24VDC in LED technology, allowing users to modulate the level of brightness for each channel.
The idea stems from the need, increasingly felt by construction sites and interior designers, to use "green" luminaires featuring low energy consumption in a wider range of shapes and sizes.
The Onyx Marine Dimmer module is positioned at the high end of competitive products, providing 8 channels for driving LED and incandescent lights, each of which has the possibility of delivering up to 20A continuously. Output control with a frequency of up to 400Hz allows low brightness levels to be reached without the flicker which is so typical of some lower category products.
Unlike other products on the market that do not allow supervisor control or that use proprietary protocols, the Onyx Marine Automation Dimmer module utilises a standard CANOpen communication bus, which is extremely popular in the field of automation.
Synthetic characteristics of the Dimmer Module:
- Management of up to 8 channels with maximum current to be supplied for each 20A channel and control of the current absorbed for each channel.
- Modulation frequency of up to 400Hz to prevent flickering.
- Activation of auxiliary ventilation in case of overheating, with a brightness reduction function and automatic switch-off of the module for thermal protection.
- Software control for single channel overcurrent with automatic disconnection. Additional overcurrent protection by single channel fuse.
- Chance to programme each channel to on/off or dimmer mode.
- Autonomous operation mode (disconnected from the CANbus network) or controlled by a master unit
