February 1st, 2007 - SEATEC Fair 2007 - Press Release

Press release:
Onyx Marine Automation: remote control of the boat

"It’s winter, I’m in Milan and my beautiful boat is alone and abandoned in Sanremo. What is the status of the batteries? Is there water in the bilge? It’s time to get the motors running! It would be best to go and take a look, but it’s so foggy outside…”
Well, it only takes a computer and a phone call and we will take you right on your boat!
The phone call will turn on the automation system, an internet connection will show it to you on your PC and, from this moment, you are free to check the battery levels and, if necessary, to get into action: switch on the battery charger, enable the shore power or start the generator…check the bilge levels and, if necessary, turn on the pumps, start the motors and check their parameters, turn on the heating or the air conditioning to reduce humidity. You can do and control everything you like!
All this must sound like science fiction, but it is not! The system is the result of a partnership between Onyx Marine Automation (manufacturing company of electronic components for the marine market) and MicroWave Marine (company taking part in the ERICSSON EGO project) and it will be presented, for the first time, at this year’s edition of the Seatec fair. By using the Onyx Marine Automation components and a simple piece of software that can be easily installed on any PC onboard, it is possible to completely remote control all the functions of the electric and automation systems, using any type of data communication system onboard.
Among the several functions offered in collaboration with the MicroWave Marine service center, there is also the supply of data and services to allow for the remote support of control, service and assistance of all technical devices onboard. On the Onyx Marine Automation stand it will be possible to see and use this system thanks to a remotely connected boat. Visitors will be able to see how simple it is to control and manage in real time all onboard devices and how the data can be stored to facilitate maintenance or repair operations.
Onyx Marine Automation components can be interfaced with any existing automation system and, through the company’s network of authorized dealers, the system can be installed even on boats already in service.

October 26th, 2006 - Training course held for our dealers of the Adriatic coast

The first training course for Onyx Marine Automation authorized dealers of the Adriatic coast was held on October 26th, 2006 at the Hotel S. Giorgio in Forlì. This meeting has given us the opportunity to discuss and explain all aspects concerning the best use of our technology in terms of correct planning, installation and servicing of marine automation systems. A warm welcome to all participants was given by Gabriele Fagioli (Sales&Marketing manager) followed by the introduction to Federico Sturlese (Technical manager) and Massimo Argomenni (R&D Manager), the real key elements of the course. Our efforts have been completely compensated by the great number of highly qualified participants and have set the basis for further meetings in the future.
Many thanks to all the participants:

October 2006 - The partnership between Beijer Electronics and Onyx Marine Automation grows stronger and stronger!

The partnership between the two companies received the final blessing from Conny Persson (Managing Director, HMI Products) and Bob Jacobi (Area Sales Manager, HMI Products) of Beijer Electronics during their visit in Italy.
The visit has given them the opportunity to see with their own eyes the results of the collaboration between Beijer Electronics and Onyx Marine. This cooperation, which has led to the creation of a whole range of operating panels specifically designed for the marine market, has not only been greatly profitable in terms of “numbers”, but also of technological innovation brought to our market. During the visit much has been discussed about the importance for further investments in R&D that will contribute to bringing the range of Onyx Marine Automation displays by Beijer to an important growth both in terms of new models and of important technological developments.

Our special thanks go to Nicola Englesos, Electronic & Electrical Manager of Pershing and to Team Italia for their kind hospitality and for allowing us to show our guests some of the systems installed.

September 2006 - BIAS

The Onyx Marine Automation system was displayed on the stand of System Electronics during the 2006 edition of BIAS as an example of technological development applied to specific market needs. The technical and commercial partnership between the two companies has given life to what has been considered as the most advanced and dedicated system of distributed electronic components in the marine market. The wide range of products, from the digital and analog I/O electronic modules, the industrial PLC and PCs specifically designed to have communication ports and protocols suitable for most of the technical devices onboard, the solid state I/O power modules up to firmware and software developed to allow for simple and custom made planning, have been the key to the rapid and great success of Onyx Marine Automation.

July 20th, 2006 - System Electronics "lands" on the nautical market

System Electronics and Onyx Marine Automation together to conquer the marine automation market.
The partnership agreement between the two companies has been reached. By combining the long-term experience of System Electronics in the development and manufacturing of components for automation and of Onyx Marine Automation in the marine market, a new range of products specifically designed for the marine market has been created.
The innovative use of the CANopen bus for the field and of the Ethernet network for the supervision and communication with the end-user interface allows for the implementation of reliable and highly performing automation systems.
Among the wide range of products, particular attention goes to the Copilot integrated PC, with IP67 case, designed to be used under severe conditions and, therefore, particularly suitable for the marine environment. The peculiar features of the Copilot have met the strong interest of important shipyards and trade partners right from the start. Evidence of such interest is represented by the several installations present on many yachts ranging from 30 to 50 meters.

April 2006 - Fano Yacht Festival

Our special thanks go to Team Italia that has hosted us on its stand on occasion of the second edition of the Fano Yacht Festival that has taken place in the lovely spot of Marina dei Cesari.
Our thanks have a double value. We have been given the opportunity to present our electronic modules to highly qualified operators of the marine market very interested in our products leading us to believe in really profitable future businesses. At the same time, Team Italia has presented its Wheel House Automation system, which allows for a very highly performing integration of all the navigation instruments. The part regarding the automation has been developed using Onyx Marine Automation components, allowing an optimal interaction with all other onboard systems.

Thanks Team for choosing us!
